Chef Susan Scores Big at The Edibles Creation Competition
From left: Brian Bassett, Southfield Police Department; Tanya Markos-Vanno, Southfield Chamber of Commerce; Executive Chef Susan Rudnick; Ken Siver, Southfield Mayor; Johnnie Menifee, Fire Chief; Paula Tutman, WDIV and Patrice Davis, Forgotten Harvest.
Executive Chef, Susan Rudnick is an outstanding gourmet chef. We at Silver Garden Events Center knew it, now the local community knows it too. Chef Susan was unanimously proclaimed the winner at the annual Taste of Southfield’s “Edible Creations Competition”. The event was held September 11th at Best Western Premier and hosted by the Southfield Chamber of Commerce.
The entries for the Chopped-style competition were whittled down to three: Silver Garden Events Center, Nomad Grille and Sweet Magnolia’s. To begin the event, emcee Paula Tutman, of WDIV, announced that each Chef had to create a pasta dish with one secret ingredient: beets. Judging the culinary creations were Ken Siver – Southfield Mayor, Johnnie Menifee – Fire Chief, Brian Bassett – Southfield Police Department and Patrice Davis – Forgotten Harvest.
So what did Chef Susan masterfully create to win the coveted trophy?
Braised Beef and Ricotta Beet Ravioli, Wild Mushroom and Ricotta Beet Ravioli; Golden Beet Béchamel Sauce; garnished with Red, Candy-Striped and Golden Beets with Herb Brown Butter Drizzle and Toasted Walnuts. Now that’s what we’re talking about! Congratulations Chef Susan.
